The Martin Whitcher Golf Studio

The system is an integrated video / computer graphics software programme designed to obtain accurate information on the process that occurs when a golfer hits the golf ball. This is achieved with the use of a swing analyzer from which the ball is struck. The data is transferred to a computer and integrated with video graphics to highlight and measure swing positions. On-line editing done by the professional is simultaneously recorded, with audio instruction, onto VHS tape / DVD for the golfer to take home.

The success of the Golf Studio, since it’s inception, has been outstanding, with golf professionals such as Mark McNulty, Tony Johnstone, Chris Davison, Thomas Aiken, Anton Haig, Seve Ballesteros and trick golf specialist Noel Hunt using the equipment extensively whilst having lessons. Many top amateur golfers have achieved results they never thought possible before they experienced the Golf Studio. National team representatives, both ladies and men, have improved to international standards. Junior development academies use the training facility extensively, and as these young golfers have been brought up with the system it will be interesting to see their progress in the future.

HISTORY

In the early 70's Martin Whitcher started a workshop that catered for golfers wishing to have their equipment custom fitted. He gained international recognition through the success of customizing equipment for many professionals. The likes of Gary Player, John Bland, Mark McNulty, Tony Johnstone, Fulten Allem and Hugh Baiocchio all produced winning results with custom fitted clubs. In 1980 Martin set up a club manufacturing plant producing golf clubs of his own design using moulds he made himself. The techniques he used in the making of golf club moulds led to him advising on and producing prototype moulds for many industries including the armaments and mining industries.
